My First Time at Camp Onas

Camp Onas by Charlie Forte

This summer was my first time going to Camp Onas, being away from home and my parents. For two weeks I lived in bunk Cuttalasa with four other boys and three counselors who all by the end of camp became my friends. Camp Onas is a great place because of the camp songs, and the many activities you get to do all while being free in nature. The name of my favorite song at camp was Bum Bum Bumblebee Tuna. These are the lyrics:

I love Bumblebee Bumblebee Tuna
Yum yum Bumblebee Tuna
I love the Tuna they call Bumblebee Tuna

The song is sung about five times over and over again, with each time it is sung faster and faster. The song was sung at every camp period. I like it because it has a nice rhythm.

Camp Onas has a lot of activities. My favorite ones are ziplining, archery, larping, “Magic The Gathering” card game and jewelry making. I am really excited to share and teach my friends at Newtown Friends School in September the card game “Magic The Gathering” because it is even better than Pokémon! While at camp I caught a frog, a crayfish and led the congo line at the dance.

Camp Onas was so much fun, I didn’t miss my parents once and wished I could have stayed the whole summer. Camp Onas is a great place and I am looking forward to going back next summer!

Charlie is ready for camp!
