Plumstead Friends Meeting is extending a special invitation to the public to attend a presentation in their historic meetinghouse about the Revolutionary War era Doan outlaws.
Given by Annie Halliday, Mercer Museum Director of Archives, and Clint Flack, Exhibits Specialist, the presentation is entitled “Tories and Taverns.”
Clint and Annie will relate tales of the Loyalist outlaws’ frequent visits to taverns, and highlight these stories with illustrative artifacts from the museum.
Two members of the gang, Levi Doan and his cousin Abraham, were buried on Plumstead Meeting property after being hanged in Philadelphia. The meetinghouse is located at 4914A Point Pleasant Pike, Doylestown. Admission is free; donations are welcome.
