Hiroshima Day Vigil

  • Doylestown, PA 18901 (map)

Joe Simek at the 2022 Hiroshima Day Vigil

At Doylestown Friends Meeting they have a time-honored tradition of observing Hiroshima Day, the day in 1945 when the U.S. dropped a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, killing or maiming hundreds of thousands of people.

In an effort to promote peace among nations and to create awareness of the devastating results of using nuclear weapons, Doylestown Friends invite you to join them when they will stand on the corners of State and Main Streets in Doylestown, PA, holding banners proclaiming, “Abolish Nuclear Weapons” and giving out peace cranes.

This year August 6th falls on a Sunday, so the vigil will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 pm, which is after most meetings have held worship.

Doylestown Friends will have some peace cranes available for those attending to hand to passersby. You are also welcome to fold and bring your own. Don’t know how to make one? Follow the YouTube video below:
