Friends should arrive between 9:30 and 10:00 for coffee, tea, refreshments and fellowship.
At 10:00 am there will be a program entitled Braver Angels and the Upcoming Election. Braver Angels is an organizations that envisions an America with respectful embrace of political disagreements, where civic friendship flourishes and competing perspectives strengthen our nation. But as we separate into groups that increasingly do not even know or interact with people of differing opinions, we lose trust in our institutions. This growing trend coarsens public debate, produces policy gridlock, shrinks our capacity for goodwill, and harms our family and personal relationships. Braver Angels believe the American Experiment can survive and thrive for every American who contributes to the effort. Representatives from Braver Angels will show us how to promote conversations with people on different sides during this turbulent time in our country.
There will be a children’s program parallel to the adult program; details TBD.
Meeting for Worship will be held from 11:00 to 12:00 pm with childcare available.
A shared meal will follow at noon with soup and chili and desserts provided by Yardley Friends.
The day will conclude with Meeting for Worship With Attention to Business at 1 pm. We will hear Annual reports from Newtown, Plumstead, and Solebury Meetings, reports from the Treasurer and the Coordinator and Friends Village and the Audit Committee. Advance documents will be available soon on the website at www.quakersbucks.org/members.
