UPDATE: Bucks Quarter Friends will have a VIRTUAL Quarterly Meeting in August.

The morning will begin with coffee and fellowship at 9:45 on Zoom, followed by a program at 10:00 am about the new African American Museum of Bucks County at Boone Farm in Langhorne and its rich history. The Museum’s Director, Linda Salley, will share the story of how the bricks-and-mortar museum is coming to fruition through vision, research, fundraising, work in the community and the support of county commissioners.

The African American Museum of Bucks County pays tribute to the lives, culture, accomplishments, and contributions of African Americans in Bucks County from their origins in Africa through the 21st century, featuring a timeline of events in African American history in Pennsylvania, including a memorial list of African Americans who were registered as slaves in Bucks County in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Also presented is the history of the Underground Railroad in Bucks County and the role of Bucks County AME churches in helping African Americans transition from slavery to freedom. The museum will also feature notable 20th century African Americans in Bucks County.

Launched in 2014 as a mobile museum, the AAMBC group has presented more than 50 programs and special exhibits to school children, libraries, senior centers, corporations, residents and visitors.

Celebrate and experience the richness and vibrancy of African American heritage and culture at this program and learn more about the museum’s mission: educating the public and honoring the legacy of the African American experience from African roots to the present day.

Following the program at 11:00 am will be meeting for worship. After worship Friends will have a choice of remaining on Zoom and visiting during lunch, or taking a screen break and returning for meeting for worship with attention to business at 12:45 pm. Advance documents are available here; Friends are encouraged to review them before the meeting and print paper copies if they wish.
