Bucks Quarter August Quarterly Meeting

Bucks Quarter Friends, under the care of Wrightstown Friends Meeting, will be gathering for a day of informative programming, worship, fellowship and business.

All programming will be held in their
air-conditioned social building.

Friends should arrive between 9:30 and 10:00 for coffee, tea, refreshments and fellowship.

Meeting for Worship will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am with childcare available.

At 11:00 am there will be a program entitled Going Green Locally and Making a Difference Globally. Wrightstown Friends Gary Whitman and Jeff Cogshall will discuss the sustainable transformations at Wrightstown Friends Meeting, highlighting their recent environmental initiatives, including the installation of photovoltaic solar arrays and geothermal heat pumps, aimed at creating a more sustainable campus. Next, learn about the broader efforts of Earth Quaker Action Team (EQAT) from Lina Blount, Director of Strategy & Partnerships, and John Magee, board member and member of Southampton Meeting, who will speak about EQAT’s impactful campaign to persuade Vanguard to divest from fossil fuels, a critical step towards altering the course of our planet’s climate crisis.

Informal children’s activities will be available, as well as use of their large playground.

A shared meal will follow at noon; please bring a brown bag lunch; desserts and drinks will be provided by Wrightstown Friends.

The day will conclude with Meeting for Worship With Attention to Business at 1 pm. We will hear annual reports from Middletown, Southampton, Wrightstown and Yardley meetings, as well as regular reports from the Treasurer and Coordinator. Advance documents and the draft minutes from the May Quarterly Meeting will be available for review before the meeting.
